For our film opening we needed to try to make some more diagetic and non-diagetic sounds. We decided to try to make a sound of someone being stabbed, so we used a squash and stabbed it with a pair of scissors (to represent the murder weapon). We placed the squash under a white piece of fabric, to represent Shaunagh's top and used red food colouring to represent blood. We filmed Harry holding onto the scissors to show the re-creation of stabbing Shaunagh. We were originally going to film Harry stabbing the squash but the skin was too tough to be able to stab once and break through the skin. We decided to use this as a flashback to show what actually happend in Poppy's final moments. We also recorded crying and screaming to add as sounds on our film opening to again show clarity, and a sense of fear to the film opening.

Sound Effect ideas - Wednesday the 25th
In today's lesson we started to work on new ideas for adding sound to our film openings, to make the film opening more interesting and clear. We can up with these ideas:
So for Friday's lesson, we will need:
-Squash fruit - Miss Alison
-Food colouring - Daisy
-Balloons - Miss Alison/Daisy
-Scissors - Shaunagh
-Old white top(that will get ruined) - Anybody who can get hold of/find one.
-Harrys hoodie - Harry
- Stabbing a fruit with scissors to re-create the stabbing sound of Harry stabbing Shaunagh
- Filling a balloon with red food colouring and popping it to create the blood splatter sound and effect.
- Using a heart monitor for a background to create suspence
- Screaming to add a sense of fear

Screen shot of our editing process
This is a screen shot of the editing we did for our opening of Honeybear. It shows the new shots we put in with Harry smoking and disposing of the murder weapon.
Re-Editing our opening
Once we had the videos from the re-shoot at Shaunagh's house, we re-edited our opening for a second time. We put in the shots of Harry and the new death shots of Shaunagh and changed the volume of the music and Shaunagh's voice-over. We have decided that when we re-edit again we want to have me saying "Poppy come on it's time for school!" as to show that this is the opening of the film and not a trailer which it looks like at the moment. We also need to record the music and change our title because the font doesn't fit with the theme of the film.

Re-filming at Shaunagh's house
We realised when we were editting our first cut of the film opening that it was hard to tell that Shaunagh was dead, so we re-shot the scene and changed a little of the way she died. Insted of being strangled we chose to have her stabbed so we could use strawberry sauce to show she was dead. The sauce showed up well on the sheet we put on her bed, and gave the scene a more professional look. We also shot some more video of Harry smoking a cigarette and disposing of the scissors he used to kill Shaunagh to add him more into the film opening.

Peer Assessment of the first cut
After we had finished editing our first cut of our film opening we viewed them all and gave each other a peer assessment. The shot where we show the image of Poppy before she became a prostitute was too jerky and unsteady, so we have decided to re-shoot that with two separate shots and not just one like we had done previously. The scenes of Pole's Lane were too long so we have decided that when we come to re-edit the next cut of the film opening we need to cut down on the amount of the scene we use. We also have to get the sound track (A-Team) recorded for copyright purposes and work this in with Shaunagh's voice over as we didn't know how to change the volume so it worked by having Shaunagh talking over the top of the A-Team track. Also one of the shots we took at Nicola's house, has a loud sound on the video of a gust of wind which we will need to turn down in our next edit.
Overall as a group we need to:
Re-shoot the scene of Poppy's old school photograph
Add in another shot to make it clear that she is dead (maybe instead of strangling her, she is stabbed to death)
Also we were thinking of putting in another shot of Harry in his normal life, because we almost seem to forget about the murderer, and to make him look more menacing.
