Filming 17th and 18th

We spent our days off Thursday 17th and Friday 18th filming parts of the opening at two different locations. On Thursday we worked at Shaunagh's and on Friday we worked at Nicola's. We managed to get the majority of the filming done which we need for the film. On Thursday we managed to film the scene in which Shaunagh (as Poppy) dies after being murdered by a client (Harry). On Friday we got the memorial scene filmed with Poppy's mum (Me) grieving over the loss of her daughter, the scene where Poppy comes home, where she calls out to her mother and she doesn't reply and finally the scene where Poppy slips into her old bed where she feels safe. We didn't have to do many retakes, and the camera and sound equiptment worked without a hitch.

Fridays Lesson

In the lesson we decided on more ideas for Shaunagh's film Honey Bear. We worked on adding to the mindmap which had already been created which shows all of the ideas we have had for this project. We brainstormed different ideas we could use for the Strangled Body scene and items we could have in the scene to show the changes from Poppy's old life, to her life as a prostitue.

Stylistic Ideas for the film opening

Once we had desided that we were going to work on Shaunagh's idea, Honey Bear, we each came up with ideas as to how we could make the opening. I thought that we could set the scene by using flashbacks. The main shot would be of the murdered prostitue lying on her bed, eyes closed looking quiet peaceful. The shot then pans out to show her room lit with a dull red or white light, there would be pills scattered across a bedside table with a lighter and a empty packet of cigarettes. The shot would then fade away to show a happy family scene of the murdered prostitue and her family watching TV, laughing together all cuddling together on the sofa. This would help to show the transision that the girl has made from a child who was loved by her parents, to a girl who became a prostitue. This would then make the audience want to watch on and find out what went wrong and how she ended up becoming a prostitue.

Analysis of a film opening title sequence - Jumpin' Jack Flash

The title sequence I have chosen is from the 1986 film Jumpin' Jack Flash, staring Whoopi Goldberg. The shots I have chosen help to show the setting of the film (New York, America) and the main actors. I think that these shots help to show the sense of mystery and intrigue that the film is based on. The shot of the eyes in the darkness helps to show the idea of someone being watched which is developed further on in the film. Also the last 3 shots help to show the idea of the main character trying to lead a normal life, until it is interupted by the arrival of Jack and this is also a turning point in the main character (Teresa 'Terry' Doolittle's) life.

Preliminary Excersise

I managed to create my own piece of film, using some of the scenes that had already been shot by Harry, Nicola and Daisy.
